AKA SUGA

AKA SUGA is an artist of Japanese descent who cut her teeth as the resident DJ for the  legendary GK Thursday night jam session The Lesson at Arlene's grocery NYC.  She gained a loyal following as a DJ but continued to sharpen her skills as a producer, Vocalist and MC. 

Her music has received placements in campaigns for brands such as Fila, Steve Madden and JD sports. Leveraging her knowledge of music to curate playlists for Oscar De La Renta, Paul Smith, Dyne & Saito NYC.  Aka Suga has remained an active and versatile artist. she has continued to DJ in and around NY as well as doing multiple dates in cities as diverse as London, Tokyo, Barcelona and Rio De Janeiro gaining plaudits for her eclectic DJ sets.
 

Creating her own record label imprint 'Good Find Records' has  afforded Aka Suga the ability to license and reissue overlooked musical gems from the 70’s  80’s and 90’s.  The past four years have seen Good Find Records reissue Afro Funk from Nigeria, Psychedelic Rap from Japan as well as underground  U.K. rap classics. In addition she continues to work with contemporary artists from as far afield as Latin America, Australia and  Europe helping ‘Good  Find’ to carve its own niche as a boutique record label with a global perspective.
